Koh Phi Phi is a popular island on the west coast of Thailand. It is famous for being the gateway to Maya Bay, made famous from the film “The Beach”. Maya Bay is on its own protected island nearby (Ko Phi Phi Le) and is sometimes closed to allow the regeneration of coral. The main island, however is very much a party island these days, and you may wish to be careful where you book your accommodation should you wish to get a good night’s sleep. There are two main islands — Phi Phi Le and Phi Phi Don. The Don island is the one with accommodation whilst the Le island is protected from any development.

How to Get to Koh Phi Phi
For speed, Krabi and Phuket nearby have international airports which mean a short bus and a ferry is only the additional step to get to the island. Otherwise, when travelling from Bangkok, you can also get a bus or train down to Krabi. This is a well-worn route so you shouldn’t find it too difficult.
